I thought there was some application that would allow you to play together (on line) in real time?

What about a cyber/songcrafters open mic, once a month. Couldn't it be like a pod cast or something where you log in and perform in front of your computers/phones camera? They have " Gotomeeting.com " where you can have multiple screens communicating Skype like, couldn't we apply that idea for a "writers round" or a good old game of "pass the guitar"??
Just a thought.

I had thought of this too but dismissed it, the delay over the Internet wouldn't allow for a true 'Jam' but I like the open mic/pass the guitar idea very much.

I've participated in something like this at another music site with live internet radio, DJ hosted. It was using "Skype" as the medium for an open mic night that was broadcast live to the chat room. Although it was just audio and no video, it worked fine. There were three of us that performed 3 songs each. The weirdest part about it was the audience couldn't be seen or heard and I had no idea how I sounded. My empty room loved me but my wife strolled over and shut the door....whatever that means, lol!

Test, test, one, two, three.....is this mic on?

Hook

That's why we'd set it up as an event for the site, add video and comments, Twitter type crap you know. It would be fun for us to see each other live and perhaps it could grow an audience?

I know people use Periscope to stream live gigs but I've never used it.

Firefox has a feature called "Hello" which uses WebRTC for real-time video/audio chat. It works with other browsers too (Google Chrome, Opera, etc.) so it isn't necessary for everyone involved to use Firefox (though that might simplify things). I haven't used Hello, so I can't say if there's any appreciable latency. And I'm not sure how many people can chat simultaneously with Hello. If it's only two, then that might be a big limitation for jamming. If anyone wants to give it a try, maybe they could report back here to let us know if Hello would be feasible for a Songcrafters real-time jam.

Great idea gang
Gee thanks for that info 64 -being a nerd I never knew these things existed
Why not go back to the old way ::) ::) ::)
Someone put up a bare bones backer for 6+mins or the max time for uploading on the site is- something straight forward, say for instance "the house of the rising sun" anyone who wants to join in takes a verse or whatever
and build it up and up-
Just a thought ::) ::) ::)
