Pretty great sounding recording. I enjoyed perusing that site and would love to try one someday but $750 is beyond my means (wife & kids you know). Surprised that a stick is so expensive.
Welcome from Tampa ,FL ; there is a lot of impressive talent on this site & I encourage you to give a listen and some comments.
Rock on!

thanks hook.

i've been listening to other people's songs on this site and i totally agree with you that there's a lot of impressive talent. i have only commented on a few but i am excited but what i've heard and will give props to people for their work. i'm also open to doing some collaborative work. i just have to take things one at a time and the last couple days i've been working on a client's song. tomorrow i have to do sound at a live venue for some national touring bands. i don't know the names. whomever they put in front of me is who i'll mix. i will likely take my laptop and during the downtime i'll go and comment on some things.

thanks for showing your support, i'll return the courtesy.

I too had to look up what a "Krappy Touchstyle" is. The sounds you coax out it it are sublime. Your compositional skills are incredible, too. As is your musicianship. I could listen to this kind of stuff all day. Will be back for more of this!

you're too kind! lol. thanks johnny. the Krappy Touchstyle is really pretty much an unknown instrument. i seriously doubt there are even 100 of these total in the world. they are made by Kevin Siebold. he makes them built to order. u can get any number of strings. typically 10, 12, or 14, but he'll make u something with more strings than that if you want. i can't imagine ever needing more than 12 strings, as i feel like 10 is already alot to work with. Kevin takes 1/2 of the $ up front to build the instrument which takes maybe 2 weeks and then you pay the other half and he ships it. so i only paid $375 for him to get started  making it, which was very affordable compared to what a Chapman Stick costs ($2500 used). i was able to come up with the other half of the money shortly after he finished making mine. so it really was a great deal.

The Chapman Stick is considerably more money, but i have to admit they are extremely well made. i used to own one and someday i'll get another Stick, but in the meantime, i'm just fine with the Krappy.

i'm happy to hear that you and others are enjoying this music. it's really a lot of work, but it's very enjoyable to do. i mean, it must sound like i'm having fun, right? (of course i am!) if nobody ever heard it, i'd still make it. so for me to actually have people hear it and enjoy it, it's like an added bonus.

i know it might seem a little hard to believe, but i'm actually not that much of a song writer and i'm not that great at playing the instrument yet. the truth is, what i lack in songwriting skills and performance ability, i more than make up for in my production skills and patience. i might have played a part 100 times very terribly, but eventually i actually played it well enough at least once. i also lean very heavily on the things i'm best at and that's mainly drums. i am learning and getting better at the touchstyle though. in the meantime, i do have lots of fun with it.

thx geir. im glad people are liking this stuff. i am a professional engineer/producer and the main reason i started learning my craft was to record my own music. i didn't start out thinking: i want to be an engineer, it just a good fit for me. ironically i went many years (15) without doing any of my own music. i have been doing my clients' music and i've come a long way in gaining knowledge and experience. i got to a point where i almost was about to burst if i didn't start using my skills for my own stuff. so i guess i went nuts with these songs. it's been fun. i have new stuff on the way. don't know how long till i am ready to post anything new. i may post some of my old stuff.

one of my clients actually gave me the go ahead to post some of their songs so i will likely do that, too.

Please don't post any recorded performances that are not your own. Songcrafters is for the work of its members only. Of course, your client is welcome to join Songcrafters and become an active member of the community, posting his/her own work and commenting on the work of other members. That's what Songcrafters is about. We're a community of amateur musicians who share our own work and support each other by listening and commenting on each other's music.

I hear u loud and clear 64guitars. I spoke with them about this site so that they could join. I made sure to let them know that there's a lot of talented people on the site and that it's important that they support the community of people here. All the guys in the band are super cool and very knowledgable. They will contribute good things. I produce them live and in the studio and they consider me a member of the band even though I'm not playing with them (yet). Since I have such an enormous amount of control over their sound, I guess in my heart I think of it as my own. I really don't know why I called them a client. I actually wouldn't post any clients' songs. It's not what I do. I see your point though.

I take time to listen to 3 or 4 songs a day from other people here. I don't comment on everything, I comment when something really speaks to me, or when I have something helpful to share. I do listen though. I like to speak from the heart and if I just comment on everyone's post I think it would feel contrived. As I get to know people here, I'm sure I'll get a better understanding for what people are doing. I have strong opinions, but I don't want to be that (know it all) guy who judges everyone, when everyone's opinion is as valid as mine if the music feels right to them.

People here have been extraordinary friendly, welcoming, and supportive to me. This is a community that I can be proud to be a part of and contribute to. I'll certainly encourage good people to come and be a part of it. I've joined another site that isn't like this at all and it's been off-putting to me. I will be patient tho, good things sometimes do take time to develop
