this is my newest song i finished. thx for listening and i hope you enjoy.

Song was created in 5 days from start to finish. I played Touchstyle Guitar, Live Drums, & Programmed Drums. I also Produced, Recorded, Edited, Mixed, & Mastered.

All the sounds are from the Krappy Touchstyle, live drums or sampled drums. No Synths were used.

I just checked out Touchstyle guitar on you tube as i had no idea what it was. What an instrument! I have enough problems with just the six strings!! Sounds good to me, very well put together and just for trying to get to grips with something like that is very brave.

thanks Mike. i appreciate you taking the time to listen and respond. my first instrument is drums. i picked up and learned some Chapman Stick and i felt like it was much more comfortable and natural for me than keyboard, guitar, or bass. i'm mainly a producer/engineer, so even though i may not be the best performer, i can still put some fun stuff together. the 10 String Krappy Touchstyle is virtually the same as the Chapman Stick, just has a body and slightly different tone. (and was about 1/4 the price of the Stick.)

if you want to know more google Chapman Stick or Krappy Touchstyle Guitar.

Chapman Stick is made by Emmitt Chapman
Krappy Touchstyle Guitar  is made by Kevin Siebold

I didn't know anything about Krappy Touchstyle Guitar, but apart from this in your hands it sounds absloutely natural.
And the whole tune is very, very good, congrats!!!

thanks Alfredo.

the instrument is really everything i could have asked for. versatile tone, covers full range, and isn't in any way synthetic. i didn't want to have to learn (and buy) both guitar and bass and keyboard just wasn't like playing a real instrument that felt and responded to my touch. so after playing drums and then learning the Stick/Touchstyle it made so many music making things possible for me.

i'd love for more people to know about the instrument, as it has limitless potential in any style of music.

This is absolutely fantastic,at first listen it reminded me of a song that would fit into a mission impossible film, but there's so much going on,you are a talented guy for sure and it's also a top notch recording.

thanks very much kenny mac. i appreciate the compliments.

i primarily use protools. i do however use logic pro x for some of the drum programming and drum samples. there are no actual synths on this, everything was actually played on the touchstyle including the arppegiators. all the touchstyle parts were recorded direct through a Golden Age Pre 73 MK2 (poor man's neve 1073) and then into an Apogee digital converter.

once inside the computer i mostly used Waves plugins. specifically the Guitar toolkit and the Rennisance Axx & RComp. the EQ that i used the most was Metric Halo's Channelstrip. the waves guitar toolkit has stomp box sims that i kinda like. i used the overdrive, wah, and phaser pedals to get many of the sounds. the live drums are pretty much raw the way they sounded in the room. i did some light compression on them with Stillwell's Major Tom compressor which sounds a lot like the dbx 160x. throw in some stock delay plugs and a lexicon reverb and then a DUY Tape and waves L2 plugin at the end and that's pretty much everything i used.

there's also a ton of automation on the mix. i automate my eq frequency cutoffs alot with the metric halo eq.

thanks for taking the time to listen and reply. i'm always happy to share and answer questions

That's a great piece of music.  I hadn't heard of the Krappy Touchstyle either but I had a look at their website.  It looks intriguing.  I particularly like the warranty statement on the home page:

Our warranty:  There is no warranty, expressed or
implied. We fully acknowledge our product is crap, and
your purchase signifies that you have entered into an
agreement to buy a product that is lacking in quality,
contains poor materials, and is worthy of much abuse
and destruction. We will in no way provide any
customer service, so don't even waste your time!!!

I'm sure there is some humour and irony in there although I've worked for some companies that had a similar ethos but sadly they weren't so honest about it!

Great piece of music.

Great musicianship, afraid I'm another ignorant of the Touchstyle gear although I know about the Stick. This reminds me very much of some of Brian Eno's work and that's just great with me.  Willie
