hi, i'm new to the forum. I'm an engineer/producer/musician. i'd like to share some of my new music. thanks for checking this out, i hope you enjoy.

Song was created in 4 days from start to finish. I played Touchstyle Guitar, Live Drums, & Programmed Drums. I also Produced, Recorded, Edited, Mixed, & Mastered.

All the sounds are from the Krappy Touchstyle, live drums or sampled drums. No Synths were used.

By saying "touchstyle," do you mean Stanley Jordan or like Chapman Stick? Whatever it is, I am loving it. *Edit - just saw your other post that answered these questions. Very cool. You've created a really interesting vibe on this one. Love those sustained notes over the busier undercurrents. Great production as well. I'm curious about the percussion, which sounds fab. What was programmed vs. live?

Welcome and greatly look forward for what's to come.

thx blooby. there's both live & programmed drums. i just like how the 2 work together. all my favorite albums are like that where they have either a DJ and a live drummer, or programmed loops with live drums. it's sorta like cheating because u get the feel of the live sound with the quality of the drum samples. in the past i've either done all synth or all live, but i just feel like if it sounds good, then go for it. the crazy part is that there's no synth sounds on either of the 2 songs i posted. only live drums, drum samples and touch guitar. i call it touch guitar because it's not actually a Chapman Stick, but for all intents and purposes, everything that i'm doing would be the same on both. the tone is different but both tones are very versatile for the type of music i'm doing. i had synth sounds on the other song during the writing process but they ended up getting cut because they took the song in a different direction than what the feel was originally. i will likely do a remix with the parts i didn't use as i did like them a lot.

thx for taking the time to listen and post a comment!

It's a Hit, man.. ;D

I have no clue as to how one would begin to put something like this together...epic..
There is a beautiful symphony playing within us all..

thx heg577

this particular song is less about composition and more about tone. i had just got the 10 String Krappy Touchstyle and was experimenting with different amps and plugins to see what tones i could get. its crazy how things just manage to come together on their own. the only idea that i knew i was gonna play was the basic 7/8 riff. everything else just grew around that. i didn't have any idea what it was gonna sound like, i just played stuff that sounded good and it all just came together.

Another great performance,well done.
You certainly have the recording technique down to a fine art.
I really don't understand a lot of the technology that went into this but I wish I did.
I'm going to experiment more with cakewalk and reason etc, maybe I'll even look into a few courses here in Glasgow as it would make everything so much easier than how I do it.
I'm inspired to do this by listening to stuff like this so there you go.

thx again hook. whats interesting, is that one of the next songs i'm gonna finish up has even more of a middle eastern vibe to it. i don't know where that influence is coming from, but it feels right to me. so i won't question it. i just do what the music tells me to.
