I use Vocal Compression 1 (P21) or Vocal Compression 2 (P22) on the BR-800. They sound a bit different. This is combined with a nice M-Audio FET Solaris Microphone. I used to use an AKG Perception 220. The M-audio definitely presents more detail.

I tried different vocal settings. I believe that unless you have a non-directional studio mic one needs the compression to bring the vocals forward and up front. When using the compression you will find that you will need to boost your highs about 6 to 10 DB. That is what I find works best for me. The best thing about compression, especially if you have a directional microphone, is that you can alter your position in front of the mic with little variance in sound.

The phased guitar (or is that a flanger?). I love it.

Cool post.
