Gary Peterson is an atypical folk singer and guitarist

I I have the vinyl " Ragtime and others  oldies " record,  that I bought in France in 1972

At that time I discovered the finguer picking with musicians as Steve waring,Stephan Grosman, Dadi, Bensusan etc...
I liked a lot this  record (the sound guitar and  touch  was very clean) which with the notebook allowed me to learn maple leaf rag ( excellent version)

I  specialy like  the song" i could walk a mile" with its rhythm of samba

this cover is just an "hommage" to Gary Peterson and to make know the musician

I play the two guitars and sing in this cover

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Gary Peterson say by mail:

Please feel free to to make a cover version of " I Could Walk a Mile ". I don't have a problem with that at all.
Plus, I appreciate your wanting to do it, so go ahead. You are the first person who ever wanted to do their own version of it. So, I feel very flattered and wish you the best of luck in your musical endevors. I would love to hear what you do with it.

About Gary Peterson; he say

Childhood Fun
I started messing around on the piano when I was about 4 years old. I'm sure it drove everybody crazy, but at that age I really didn't care. The most fun of all was playing whatever came into my head. No training, no nothing, I just liked the sound of my grubby little fingers tapping the ivories.

After two years of orchestrated unmelodic chaos, there were still a few survivors willing to put up with me, one of whom was smart enough to get me to take piano lessons. I started out as a very abstract instrumental pianist. The jobs didn't exactly pour in, but what can you expect for a four-year old?

Gary in Paris
European Wanderlust
At age 15, my cousin Baron gave me my first guitar, et voila, I discovered a new musical freedom by strumming a few chords! I attracted girls! I became more popular! After experiencing the splendor, excitement, and unimaginable riches of street-singing in Paris, I decided to become a serious musician.

I went back to school (quelle horreur!) first, at the New York Conservatory of Music, and later at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. I learned about music, writing, theory, and becoming a better performer and composer. I then plunged into the "dog-eat-dog" world of professional music, where worrying, agonizing, going-hungry, having no health insurance, suffering, and nervous depression were just part of the gig.

It was durning that time that I became a permanent member of the Formerly Fat Harry group. We traveled around Europe, playing with 60s and 70s cult greats such as Pink Floyd, King Crimson, and Fleetwood Mac.

During my musical adventures in England, France, and Holland, I began spending more and more time composing, which is mostly what I do now. During my 23 years of living in those countries, I was exposed to many different kinds of music. Some of them were pretty bad, while others were quite wonderful and not so easily found in America. Just living around Europeans and absorbing their musical tastes, influenced my brain as it soaked up new experiences like a sponge.

Gary Back in the USA
Back in the U.S.A.
Living, traveling, and immersing myself in different cultures has had a deep effect on my musical thinking. Interestingly, when I returned to America, back to my roots, I became much more focused on playing the blues and writing music for theatre and film. So, I guess you can say I'm somewhat "bi-polar" when it comes to making music.
