Here's a song that I'm still working on. It just me and my acoustic live in the sunroom.

Lady In The Mirror

(V1) The night it was a dark one
Considering the moon's fullness
I was held in fascination
At the power of the illumination

That's when you revealed yourself
Your smile was so infectious
Turning my world upside down
With your siren's alluring sound

(Chr) Lady in the mirror
Looking at the man in the room
I'm being drawn nearer
I feel I'm being consumed
With the lady In the mirror

(V2) I'm out here wondering
What you're in there thinking
Am I to believe?
That you can reach out and touch me?

The night air is so crisp
With the smell of sweet incense
It sustains my tomorrow
Knowing all along time is borrowed

(Chorus)

(Brdg) You seem to know that I'm here
Watching every move with your stare
You appear so majestically
An apparition for all eternity

(Repeat Chr 2x)

I'm always excited to hear a new song from you, Farrell, and this doesn't dissappoint.  A great song, stripped-back and bare but loads of emotion and interest.

Of course the question is - will you go for the bigger production version?  It doesn't need it - but I like your more produced stuff as well.   There is no harm in having more that one version of the same song.

On a technical note - how did you mic this?

Thanks Kari, Alex and Paul!

Paul: I do plan a larger production of this, thanks! I needed to record it before I lost it and to stimulate some production ideas. Nothing special at all with the way it was recorded or choice of mic. I had typed out the words  while sitting at my PC, so I opened Audacity and connected an old AKG dynamic mic via an 1/8" adapter to the mic input. I then positioned (laid) the mic on my mouse pad to get a quick balance between the guitar and my voice and hit the record button. So it's a one track mono recording and the mic did pick up some of the PC fan noise but not near what a condenser mic would have caught. I'll re-post when I do a better studio recording with the full production . Thanks again!

HI Farrell sounding like another great original by you
nice lyrics and great acoustics. wish u the best NEIL. !

Doctor C

Are you sure the song needs a larger production? It sounds perfect as is. What FXs did you use on vocals? Very impressive!

Geir

Very cool song once again Farrell!

You don't need a big production on this, it's strong enough as it is!

The auto panning fx was cool, but would maybe be even cooler if the guitar and vocals were on separate tracks and the panning was a bit offset on one track :)
