Loop record feature Br-800 on a Daw?

I have recently bought a Br-800, I liked a lot the loop record feature. Just put the rec blinking, record some beats, stop record button while play still is on and automatically the last record is copied the next 200 bars, so is very usefull to add then variations on that track, or use that track as base and record in another one.
I couldnĀ“t find that feature on a Daw. Must make it manually, cut snap to grid, then repeat the item manually but couldnĀ“t find a Daw that do it automatically like the Br-800.
 Thanks in advance.

that's a feature i have not fully investigated with the br800 yet. do you use a foot pedal? i am seriously thinking of getting one for that purpose. as i imagine it would be difficult to start and stop record at the correct time.  one question, do you know if you can make the loops on each track be off differing length? ie. track one 4 bars long track two 8 bars long, track three 16 bars long etc.
