My home studio setup

Hello!

I noticed that Boss BR series recorders are quite familiar here. I use them(Old BR-8 and BR-900CD) many years until they broke. Other main tools were Roland R-8, Boss DR-770 and lately Boss DR-880.

As keybords, i use Korg N364 and Yamaha Motif 6. I build midi sync for kb, drum machine and tracker, so i was able to make bigger arrangements with less tracks audio tracks. Now i use only software synths.

For gtrs and bass recording i use Korg A2, Boss GT-6, Boss GT-10, Digitech GNX3000, Digitech RP500, Boss BR900CD, Line 6 POD and two amplifiers Marshall 5010 Master Lead 30w transistor combo, Peavey JSX 100w head and Marshall 1960A 4x12" cab with Celestion G12-75 speakers.

When i moved to computer recording set up in 2007. It was hard and takes few months to make things work properly. Main reason to this move were XLN Audio Addictive Drums. Before this i always build my drum tracks with drum machines. After that i start to use plugin amps too, like Lepoulin, TSE, Ignite, Guitar Rig and Amplitube.

It takes years to make my computer setup sound as good as Boss BR900CD. It has really great sound.

At the moment i use Avid Eleven Rack with expansion card,  M-Audio Oxygen 25, Behringer B3031A.
Software: Cubase Artist 6.5, XLN Audio AD Drums, Toontrack EZ Piano, NI Vintage Organs, NI Session Horns, Rop Papen Blue 2.

I have done a lot of plugin testing with freeware and commercial plugins.
Nowdays i use just few plugins in the mix(Variety Of Sound TDS Ferric and Epic Reverb, Vlagd Limiter6, TAL Reverb 2 and Cubase channel strip eq.

Otherwise, Eleven Rack and AD Drums has good effects inside, no need to use outboard FX.

I try to program basic instrument sounds as good as possible, so i don't need to"Fix"things in mix.
Many people hate sound programming but i love it. So i use a lot's of time to sound programming with eleven rack, ad drums and keyboard plugins.

Best regards
Gary
