Audacity 2.1.0 released March 29, 2015 - Now has real-time effects preview!

Looks useful, although I only really use Audacity to amplify my tracks... I'll export from Cakewalk as a WAV & then use the amplify feature in Audacity to maximise the volume.

You might want to give the Normalize effect a try for that purpose. It is similar to the Amplify effect but there are some important differences to be aware of:
