NEWS in the last post BUMP the video of this song

hello my friends

I like very much this song that i known by Seldom Scene (fantastic blue grass band with in particular the great dobro player Mike Aulbridge)
I made a search on songcrafters.org  and I found a  cover by  Fenderbender  (big version, great voice) posted in 2010

So I think that I can post this new cover  of news with the story of this song

City of New Orléans is a written and compound  song  by Steve Goodman , appeared in 1971 on the album Steve Goodman. it was taken back at first by Arlo Guthrie who makes it a success from the next year, then by numerous American artists among whom Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash or still Judy Collins.

The french adaptation lyrics written by Joe Dassin are totaly different and have nothing to do with the inital text: in the french lyrics,  it s an unfortunate love story:.... It is true that the faithful translation of the original song would have had no sense because the  train "City of new Orleans"  is unknown in France!

The Quebeck singer Roch Voisine recently took back this song by juxtaposing both English and French texts (a stanza in English, a stanza in French) and it is in this shape that I give you to listen to my own cover

PS " Il faut rendre à César ce qui appartient a César" (in English ; We give credit where credit is due ;-)  )
here in You tube the beautiful first version of this song by his composer Steve Goodman

...and the Seldom Scene version : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISFAXoD5LsU

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

A great version of this song! I'm familiar with Arlo Guthrie's version but not the others. You did well on this!

Nice. Very nice indeed.

I like expecially the switching from English to French, this adds something very particular to this cover.

Molto bravo.
