Just thinking on the old good days ;D ;D ;D
pubs everywhere in our area -all packed at the weekends
the music and the craic was 90(the fun and atmosphere was tip top)
No messing, no headbangers back then just a good night out.
We never had a penny but once you had your entrance fee (money for your first beer ) you were ok.
Those days are well and truly gone -like most pubs small and large-
Anyway
In memory of those days-
Down in Mooney's Bar
Down in Mooney's Bar
Remember all the the good old times
Down in Mooney's Bar

Ahh Down in mooney's Bar
Down in Mooney's Bar
Ah the craic it was 90
down in Mooney's Bar

Bill sat in the corner playing his old banjo
Jim played on the squeezebox
we all cried out for more
Singing songs of past heroes
and songs of days gone by
Man the craic was 90
Down in Mooney's Bar

Old Mary sang a song about a butcher boy
Harry raised the roof when he sang Danny Boy
Some politician came in one night and tried to give a spiel
He was frogmarched to the door
and landed ass over heel

Down at Mooney's Bar
etc

Sad verse :'( :'( :'(
Now the old days are they gone
and so is Mooney's Bar
The Superpub has taken over
and nobody wants to jar
over inflated prices and fancy paintings on the walls
Oh how we all miss the craic
Down in Mooney's Bar
Etc.

Nice one Tommy, I can relate to that in Liverpool, if you didn't get in the pub by 8.0 clock you wouldn't get a seat, the good old days..
I enjoyed this one Tommy, well done......Alex

You are right. I was a barman about 25 years ago and there was good craic to be had in the pubs back then, a real community spirit in the pubs too. I think when i started working it was £1.47 a pint if i remember correctly in punts. Messers were few and far between you are right. Good tune Tommy!!

What a fun and sad song about the demise of pubs like you're describing Tommy. The banjo, acoustic guitar, mandolin, and of course your vocal set up a real good time. I like the gang of pub voices in the chorus!

Test, test, one, two, three.....is this mic on?

Gorgeous track - sounds fab anyway, but it really paints the picture... anyone who knew a place even remotely like this won't be able to listen to it without a fond memory and slight twinge of regret.

Super stuff (and the instruments are just wonderful - leaves me sat in a place called The Prospect clutching me fag and pint, watching the fingers, wondering how on earth they managed to get those sounds... and then a year or two on, jamming with them myself :))

Brilliant Tommy - it sounds timeless.

I hope you're singing it in the bars.

Instant smile from the opening banjo. Pub's are becoming less and less part of our culture - tv, home entertainment and cheap booze from supermarkets have done for that, and that includes live music. We have become very sedated and its a real shame. Lovely tune Tommy.

Very nice, separated and clear. Good separation of parts.
I can practically "see" the band playing.
