Nouveau Soleils - ORH and Flash get retro

I've been steeped in 80's synthpop for a while, working on a project which may or may not come to anything.

I think that I have been absorbing the genre by osmosis. I was working on this track and I felt like I'd stalled, I'd carried it around on my PiePod for a few days, trying to get a feeling for a lyrical style fiddling about with some phrases, the recent eclipse was in my thoughts and I thought I might call the track 'New Suns'.

Still at al loss this weekend, I sent the track to OldMariahRottenhead to see if it sparked any ideas. The initial response was not encouraging.

Then, out of the blue, a missed phone call, a text and an email later, James sent me a vocal addition to the MP3 I had sent to him. Lost a bit in the mix because I have compressed the hell out of the final track, but nontheless an impressive bit of work. I couldn't wait to get home to put the WAV into the track.

Loved it! Getting a bit of a Giorgio Moroder "sequenced" vibe from the rhythm synth, and digging all the other little synth squiggles et vox en francais.

I'm not a big fan of synth-pop usually (it stopped me appreciating Genesis all the way from when I first heard them - when Follow You, Follow Me was in the UK charts - until sometime in the mid 90s when my wife at the time forced me to listen to Lamb Lies Down).

But I love this!!
