It should allow alternate tunings, but the keys will all sound the same with regard to colouration.

I can't really see how alternate tuning would be possible.

Because it's even temperament, the actual tunings of the individual strings may differ, as long as the intervals are accurate there should be no difficulty. It's a matter of ratios. But A Flat will not sound like A Flat.

I think you would need a set of guitars for different tunings because the intervals on this one are set up for EADGBE open strings.
