In a backwards sort of way, sometimes the love/hate relationships have some real positives. What a project you have here. Love the lyrics and vocal performance on this. The chorus you've put together is awesome. Hope like hell you post some more of your work here.

Fantastic!!! What a way to introduce yourself. I'm catching up on old posts as I've been away and I loved this. I suspect some of your influences are similar to mine because the song is right up my street. The keyboard motif is very catchy and it's clever the way you anchor the song around this. Your vox are excellent as well and come across really well in the mix. Great production as well. Whatever's going on in your head, I want to hear more!

What's to hate about the MBR? It's so flexible. Like you, I'm playing music again after a gap of many many years and I just moved my entire recording studio downstairs as the rest of the family are in bed. It's so easy to move around and just make music anywhere. It's clear you have this beastie under control, so keep going and love it!

Cheers,

Nigel

very cool. one thing I would say is that the synth seems to be to loud and overpowers the rest of the tracks. might be my head set listening at work tho.

Yeh, I know what you mean. I try to brighten up the keyboard, so it sounds crisp, but the high end comes thru too much. It's either the treble or maybe I use too much reverb or it's just too damn loud. Please let me know what you think, because I'm working on another song that has piano and I don't want to keep making the same mistake. Thanks for your input.

ksauers, I find when you are setting levels and mastering I listen in as many different speakers as I can.  I listen through a bookshelf stereo, IPod ear buds, a nice pair of Sennheiser headhones.  I will make a mp3 and play it in my car and on my computer.  I do this with the songs that i am spending a lot of time on.  I find the levels sound different on all these devices, so when I get it to sound good on everything, then I am ready to commit it to final master/final mp3.  It is an art in itself the bouncing/mastering phase and takes time to get it good I find.

I like it a lot. Now I want to dig up my old Psychadelic Furs, Ultravox and Yaz albums. Maybe call up my old girlfriend... Yep, synthesizers are definitely still cool.  Love your music - let's hear some more!

Nice job Kurt.  I dropped in and listened to a dozen posts this morning and this is the one that stood out.  It takes a lot to do a 'full-blown production', it's not only about playing instruments and singing but also about arranging and audio engineering... and you are getting all that worked out. A well written original song too!   :)

These days I merely dabble at being old and wise.
But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.

Hooper,
I listened to your post about a week ago. It took about 10 seconds to realize your talent and experience, so when you replied to my post I was blown away. Thanks and keep setting the example.
