i saw the movie american sniper last night and it must have subliminally affected how the lyrics came out.
so a wee protest song that's both anti war and anti religion.

i intended to do it live in the living room but couldn't get a good balance so recorded my £10 guitar and vocal separately on my microbr. i also stuck a capo on the 7th fret but only covering the top 4 strings.
for all that we've forgotten
for all we still recall
the cold sweats and the nightmares
the memories of war
so sing your hallelujahs
in praise to your false god
and pray for his forgiveness
for all the pain he's caused
so onward christian soldiers
still marching into war
dear god can you please tell me
just what we're fighting for
so sing your hallelujahs
in praise to your false god
and pray for his forgiveness
for all the pain he's caused
sing all your hallelujahs

Oh wow! Where are you pulling these from James? You're in a rich seam recently, this is another outstanding song. I love the simplicity of the accompaniment and the poignancy of the lyric.

Lovely, lovely, heart rending stuff. Bravo

I wouldn't watch that movie myself, but I'm glad you wrote an answer song for it. Love the guitar chords (standard tuning?) and passionate vocals - a gentle and sorrowful beauty of a song.
