Vindolanda is a Roman fort on Hadrian's wall.  This piece was inspired by a visit there, and gave me an excuse to pretend that I can play the mandolin.

It's not terribly exciting but I thought I would post it anyway.

Paul

Greeny

I'm digging the proggy folky flavour of this, and the mixture of electronic and mandolin sounds.

It does sound like a suitable piece for some travelogue footage. I can definitely hear some lyrics and vocals taking this one up a gear.

Really nice work.

Hook

I dig it also & Greeny hit the nail on the head, this is a perfect score for a travel show or a cultural food type show. Well done brother, sounds great.

Tangled Wires

This is extremely good, excellent mix up of instrumentation to give a very full and uplifting sound and some nice variation throughout which keeps the listener hooked.

I too could hear vocals on this, this could really fly and has some seriously good potential in this respect, although I am not volunteering my services. ;)

Superb!

Paul, I just watched a PBS special on Hadrian's wall. Your music should have been part of that soundtrack...it would have fit perfectly!

AndyR

Like it.

Cool tune. Would've fitted in quite nicely in or around Heavy Horses :)

I too like the mix of the old and new instrumentation, a contemporary feel to an ancient melodic and rhythmic form.

Very nice indeed!

This has Tull all over it. I love it.

I don't think I've ever written this before, but I'm liking the bass drum and its placement.

I can see James swooping in all over this.

Redler

I can here some Jethro Tull vibes, too. Expecting Ian Anderson start to sing :) . Really fine instrumental with nice folky melodies! I'm on my third listening...
