Another piano-led late night excursion  ::) :D

This was only meant to be a rough sketch, but when I made it up into a full production with everything 'just right', it lost all the feeling and spontaneity. So I kept it like this: a bit rough round the edges, but exactly as it was written.

Features piano, precision bass, Takamine acoustic, TJ cello, and vocals. Recorded and mixed on the MBR.

Fine tune, love the piano work, you seem to putting some time in behind the ivory's and it's paying off. I love the production, it sounds really great & that hook is gonna stay with me all day.

Absolutely first class this, I know you have down played your ability on the keys in the past but you are certainly far more capable than you make out and there are some beautiful melodies created here and especially liked the parts where the TJ Cello backs it up.

Vocally it has a cool little swagger, and the I like the way the backing vox are slightly delayed to give a kind of echoing effect

The production shines yet again, no way this sounds even remotely rough around the edges, it is once again a wonderful piece of work!

Listened to this three times now, and it is becoming better with each one as keep picking out different parts to focus on each time

Wonderful!!

Ooh yeah Tim!
Great ivories and lovely complementary bass lines. Melody and lyrics are up there with your best.

This is fresh and original and fab. I don't know how you manage to make the MBR drums sound so natural, especially since I've been listening to them for six years at least.

This is a good song Greeny! If it's what you were hearing in your head then you've absolutely made the right choice to stay with the first cut. I'm not hearing any flaws, I'm hearing a song that's alive and vibrant and not stifled with lifelessness ..well done!

Test, test, one, two, three.....is this mic on?

Aww, this is fab.

I'd be intrigued to hear the "full production" version - I'm imagining it got a bit "Robbie Williams"? :D

I'm actually impressed with your ability to go "sod it", let it go, and cut it back to this... The one I posted yesterday, to my ears, suffers from this. I was originally aiming at "cut down", I was even thinking "Greeny" when I started the arrangement, "what would he do?". But then when I started putting the basic guitar parts on, that suggested more, and I was having such a good time... When I came to do the vocal, the original delivery wouldn't work. I got through it, but by the end, I felt it didn't have the "life" it was meant to have. I did toy with shelving all the guitars, keeping the drums and bass, getting a decent vocal and then playing just one or two guitars. But I couldn't let go of what was there already...

Love this, though.

By the way, wow, that piano playing's coming on... My next one is piano based (unless something else happens before I start!), and I'm wondering whether I can play it well enough to leave the piano as up front as this.

Just managed to listen to this on some decent gear - not just an iphone and some ear buds - and it sounds fab. What a great rocking anthemic song. Massive Tim.
