Quote from: oldrottenhead on March 09, 2015, 06:48:23 AMjust curious Tim, but was the Line "dreaming spires" a pun on "dream inspires"?

No, lol. The 'up above the dreaming spires' lyric was trying to encapsulate the kind of flying, floaty love of a Marc Chagall painting (e.g. 'The Birthday').

Tangled Wires

One of my all time favourites Songcrafter tunes and I like the direction you have taken with this cover and the fine attention to detail throughout. This is a song I regularly strum along too and always fancied covering it too, but the bar has been set far too high to contemplate that now ;)

Superb variation in the guitar parts throughout and the introduction of the organ (sounds like a Hammond?) was a really nice touch and added a lot of weight to the arrangement

There are some wonderful dynamics in sound, you have created a real ebb and flow feel, and one of my favourite parts was when it explodes into the "We're on a high wire" line towards the end after the little pause, and the vocal is beautifully controlled and responds perfectly to the intensity of the music.

Magic song....magic cover!

This is very good.  The false ending almost caught me out - I almost hit the comment button when it started up again!

Great arrangement and version of a fine song.

Flash, the drums are once again Addictive Drums. I can't say enough great things about the program. You can dial up quite a few great sounds quickly, or you can get all anal retentive with editing the minutiae of the kit. This would include adjusting individual pitch, length, effects sends, EQ, overhead mic level, room mic level, whether you want more mic on the top or bottom of the snare, more/less beater on the bass drum...you get the idea. It used to be where you had to buy the program and then add kits. I believe the program engine now comes with all the kits. I should also mention that each kit will come with 20 or so variations, which cover a fairly wide swath.

Heads up for those of you with a DAW: the organ is from the free version of Sampletank. The free version only has 20 sounds vs. a whopping 33 gigabytes of sounds in the full version. Having said that, the free version has the aforementioned organ sound from the tune, a decent drum set, a great grand piano, a decent bass, and a great Rhodes.

The false ending was all James. I had a slight fade already and was thinking "extend this even more!?" It's still jarring every time I hear it (and it still makes me smile). I should also point out that he sent me at least three takes of vocals, which were all great. To clarify, they were %ucking great. After I posed a question, he admitted that they were all complete passes. On the few tunes on which I have sung, they are meticulously comped from 3-4 takes, and they pale in comparison (they stink). When I realized this, I was conflicted, for I both loved the man and hated him.

Thanks for your kind words.

Peace.

Ahhh yes i really enjoyed this. Greeny`s most popular song. Don`t know if i`d try and tackle his stuff but you guys did and made it different. Just a super cover all around. Solos are ear candy and vocals and the panning is really great.
I was wondering about that organ. Thanks for the heads up on the free version.

These tributes are the best fest of all.
