Here's one that I'm pretty sure I posted before, but I think it had completely different lyrics and wasn't fully developed, I can't remember.

This version is live, in my 3 piece band, Graveyard Blonde.  I haven't gotten around to making a decent recording because I think my bass player and drummer play it much better than I could.

Let em' help you out
Remove all your doubt an go on
They will keep you in debt
With their good intent and a gun

30 million lost
In the battle of a broken sun
And everybody's still thinking
they were doing good all along

   That ain't right

You can eat the rich
Take all they got for the poor
Try to justify
That it's good for everyone

Abandon common sense
Plan a good defense make your case
G for God, G for green
G is for good, gun and government

   That ain't right

Thomas Sowell once said
In a phrase little understood
We replace what works
With something that sounded good

Take the high moral ground
No evidence to prove you wrong
Just say opposite
And repeat till it's all they know

Thanks for the lyrics box guys, that worked really slick.

We have a Presonus digital mixer and record direct off the board; other than the mix it's pretty much as played, nothing is done to the sound (EQ or reverb/delay that is) after the fact.

Everything runs through the board, no bass amp, and the drummer uses a Roland kit, we all listen with ear bud/In Ear Monitor's (IEM's) or head phones.  Vocals into standard Shure Beta 58's.  For guitar, I went through quite a bit of experimenting with amp modelling, direct outs, etc, etc, and I can tell you that most of it sounds terrible in those little IEM's (headphones are considerably better, but no good for the stage).  The best I have found was when I built an isolation speaker cabinet and which is a speaker inside an enclosed foam filled box with a mic.  It's still a little wacky but considerably better than anything else I've tried and is about 20% of the volume of an open amp.

So why all the effort?  Well it means that the family can still watch TV upstairs during practice, and when we play live we can play as quietly as the venue and audience want, yet we still have a rock concert going on in our ears, no feedback, no volume wars, each of gets to control their own mix in the IEM's with an iPad or iPhone, it's great!

Cool song, love the vocals - I assume they were recorded live at the same time?

And I'm kinda digging that guitar sound.

You guys have got a rocking little combo going :)

Thanks Andy!  Yes we really enjoy each other in this band, all on the same page, no personality issues at all, its great.

Yes vocals are live, nothing has been overdubbed.  Guitar is completely gutted and redone electrics Les Paul > Maxon OD808 > diamond memory lane jr delay > slightly overdriven tube amp with a bit of reverb > isolation cabinet > e609(?) mic to board.

A frikkin Presonus Digital Mixer... I'd love one of these.

This sounds too well controlled to be live, very nice indeed. The vocals are really good, clear and well balanced. And it's a great song.
