Metadata on MP3's

Hello all,

I'm new to this recording stuff, so please forgive any ignorance on my part.  I just purchased a MicroBR, and tried to import MP3's that I had downloaded from the web.  A few work fine, most of the others give a card read error near the end of the songs.  I talked with support, and they advised that it might be the metadata imbedded in the MP3's.  I know a work around is to convert the MP3 to a .wav file, then import the .wav file and convert it back to MP3.  This has proven to be rather time consuming, and I'm wondering if anybody knows anyway to get rid of the metadata before importing.

I think it's unlikely that metadata would cause a card read error. It's more likely a problem with the memory card. Is it the card that came with your BR or one that you purchased separately? If it's a card you purchased separately, try copying one of the problem MP3s to the card that came with your BR. If the song plays okay on that card, then the MP3 file isn't the problem. If you purchased this card separately, did you Initialize it in the BR before using it? If not, backup the card to your computer, then initialize it (see page 115 of the Micro BR manual, 3rd edition) and restore the backup. If you still have trouble with certain MP3s after initializing the card, but they work okay on the original card, then you might want to buy a new 1GB memory card.

You should check your card first as 64G says. One thing is a corrupt mp3 a whole other is a recording of your own work!!
That said, if the card is ok and the mp3-file is the problem , there are some utilities that may help you. I remember using "mp3 tag-studio" a while ago and as far as I can remember it had an option to remove all tags from mp3-files. I'm sure there are other utility-programs that can do the same.

Oh well ........

Thank you.  I bought a new card and initialized it, but I still get a card read error with MP3's.  I'll try find an mp3 utility and see if that works.
