Where did they all go?

Has anybody ever looked at the members list on this site like myself and wondered where did they all go?
I'm pretty regular on this and it's seems to be a pretty small amount of crafters that are constantly giving comments and posting songs.
I'm wondering that if we look at the general post stats and inputs over say the past year what the actual real figure is.
There seems to be a huge gap in what's on the list.
Strange.

I have eaten most of them, the rest are buried where no one will ever find them.

I opened the member list and noticed that many of them who have posted only few posts are "one question members". They have had a certain problem with a recording/recorder etc...

278 members have logged-in in the past year. Of those, 221 have posted 6 or more messages since joining; 213 have posted 10 or more; 186 have posted 20 or more; 175 have posted 30 or more; 167 have posted 40 or more; and 159 have posted 50 or more messages since joining.

Perhaps a more reasonable time frame is the past three months. If a member hasn't logged-in in the past three months then I would say he's no longer an active member. 182 members have logged-in in the past 90 days. Of those, 150 have posted 6 or more messages since joining; 147 have posted 10 or more; 136 have posted 20 or more; 127 have posted 30 or more; 122 have posted 40 or more; and 119 have posted 50 or more messages since joining.

So I'd say we have somewhere around 150 active members. Most of the others joined to post one or two messages then never came back.

I wouldn't have suspected this. Good to know.

I'm afraid I've contributed (possibly only very slightly) to the ask a question and don't return group. If I meet anyone that has a question about the BR Recorders I tell them about this site. Which, in hindsight, is probably a bad thing to do. Now, I don't know if any of them actually showed up or not, but.....  It is at least worth pondering.  I did recommend the site to a couple of on-line musician friends who don't look like they stuck around for very long. But that was just honest opinion luring them in and then who knows why they didn't return.

Hi TC

I don't think you should apologise for recommending the site. I think you did exactly the right thing. Some people will get their answer and go away and others will stick around. Both is OK.

Otherwise, I'm surprised that we have as many as 150 regular members. I seem to notice the same 20-30 regular contributors but the stats are the stats.
