Decided to do some recording after quite a long lay off and thought I would import e few backing tracks to get me started. Following the instructions on page 154 of the manual I did exactly as it said but the problem is that only track 1 is recording. When I go to record track 2 I am following the same steps like selecting the track to be imported then moving the cursor to IMP then pressing enter then choosing track 2 V1 then the display says
IMPORTING and then finishes, but when I try to select track 2 it stays on track 1 and wont move. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Regards.

Those instructions are for importing music from an audio CD. I'm not sure what you're doing wrong but I would recommend that you use the USB import method instead. It's described on pages 167 and 168.

Better still, use the BR Wave Converter software.

Here's a link to the BR Wave Converter manual. Instructions for WAV file import are in section 6-6 on page 5.

Thank you for getting back to me. I understand what you are suggesting but the reason I bought this recorder is that it does not require a computer and I would like to be able to carry on without using one. Just been trying again and there may be a clue, as I managed to record a second backing track which has recorded on the second track of the BR and on the display it reads02:SONG0030 (MT2) which I don't think is correct.
Another clue might be that I decided to erase all the previous tracks and start again.  Once again your assistance would be very much appreciated.

Found another strange thing, when I follow instructions on page 75 and get to instruction number 5 ( use cursor
and time value to select the track/V-track to erase) I am getting tracks 1-8 as I turn the time value dial then it jumps to 12 then 34 then 56 then 78. Certainly looks as though the BR could be faulty ??

Hi. I think they are 1 and 2/ 3 and 4 etc. Not 12 34 56 and 78 If I remember these are bounce/ master destinations for tracks 1 through to 8?

Hi Chip,

Now you mention it I think you are right, but that does not explain why I can't import any more than 1 track or why I can't delete a track or song even though it says it has  :-\ :-\ :-\

Actually, I think it might. I suspect that you're trying to import a stereo recording (2 tracks) into a single (mono) track. You need to import it to a stereo pair instead (1/2, 3/4, 5/6, or 7/8). So at step 7 on page 154, be sure to turn the VALUE wheel until you get to the track pairs (12, 34, 56 and 78).

The tracks are not stereo as the tracks I have just deleted were imported from the same CD as I am using now and I had no trouble importing them the first time. I have just done a factory reset and it has not made any difference whatsoever. It feels like I am missing something but for the life of me I can't think what  :-[

Talk about use it or loose it  :-[ I know it's been a while since I used my BR but I was overlooking one very basic thing, which was not selecting a new song for each Backing track. All is fine now so I would like to thank those who tried to help me and to apologise for my very senior moment  :-[

Good show Banjaxed. The Boss way can be very frustrating to young and old. When I started using Boss gear for recording I asked many very obvious questions. Not obvious to me though. These machines and indeed others like them can be very frustrating, each one with their own quirky or nightmarish menus and systems. I very much still have moments of despair using such gadgets, perhaps I should get a reel to reel and be done with it.
Rock on.
