"D'oh!" I'm stuck with a 'Wrong Disc' error message when trying to use the built-in CD on my BR1600. Can anyone recommend a BRAND TYPE (both CD-R & CD-RW) that you know from experience just work with your BR1600 machine - hopefully they'll just work with mine too! (The cheopo batch I currently have at my disposal this end obviously aren't compatible with a BR1600!) Again, any recommendations greatly appreciated!
PS: I note the manual states to use only type:  'ISO 9660 Level 2 / Mode 1' whatever they are (it's all rocket science to me!) Here's the only Mode 1 type I could find (which are in Germany - it shouldn't be that hard to find some closer to home in the UK surely?): http://www.amazon.de/Sony-CD-RW-1x-4x-ISO-9660-MODE-1-Jewel/dp/B00007BKQ8

Hi. I use TDK, maxell. But any seem to work on my BR1200.
Sweet young thing aint sweet no more.

Thanks Chip! Looks like I've a bigger problem then. Just got hold of some TDK (fairly good quality methinks, expensive enough anyway!) but sadly still getting the same error message. Since there's not much on it I'm thinking I might initialise my settings & the hard drive ("YIKES!") and see if that makes any difference.

Hi Super 8. When you say a wrong disc, are you playing back a cd that you have just ripped? If so mine does that, but when I play the disc on my cd players it works fine. Not to sure what you are trying to do?

Does it read CD's? If so, I almost never use the writer. I just use the USB to export songs. I only use it to import loops into the machine. For backup, the CD is way to slow, the USB isn't fast, but faster than CD.

If you really want to use it, then I've seen replacement parts on eBay. I cannot vouch for them, as I've never tried to change anything. This works out around £26 for a replacement unit, it would mean opening up the unit, so depends on how confident you are with electronics.

Hi folks. I was trying to get the 'Discrete Drum' loops onto my machine (the unit didn't come with them having been completely wiped by the previous owner). I got caught in some kind of weird buggy thing but, after much faffing about, have now managed to get said samples onto my machine (I had to re-initialise everything but it seems to have worked!) Thanks for your input.

PS: Talking of loops, tell me about these BetaMonkey (is that right?) loops Mr Bruno. How do you get hold of them? Are they offered by genre? How do they work? Do you just load them up from a CD and import them onto the BR1600? (I've had lots of experience of that today but, at least from here on in, I know what I'm doing where that whole side of things is concerned!)

See http://www.betamonkeymusic.com/

Full CD worth of loops of a particular style, folder per different speeds on each CD eg 100, 110, 120 etc, fills, sometimes start and stops and variations all play by a real drummer. You can listen to samples of loops on the site. They have some download samplers that you can download for free. Priced in $, usually around $30 for a CD full of loops (£20) - download onto a Mac/PC and then burn a CD from them. They will send you a CD, but they charge you extra for that, and I've never bothered.

I really like them

:-)

Cheers B! Sounds cool, I shall check 'em out (or, alternatively, just learn how to actually play the drums properly myself - been threatening that for a LONG time now! You can't 'beat' the feel of a 'real' drummer truth be told!)
