Argh, I got the last generation Beatstep as a pad controller and sequencer, but this one looks many steps forward.  Crikey.

I wonder if our collective G.A.S. could power a small automobile?

Line 6 Firehawk FX multi-effects

This new multi-effects unit from Line 6 looks interesting. It solves the major beef I've always had with floor-based gear. I've always thought that it's bad ergonomic design to put hand-operated controls and displays on a floor-based device. Line 6 solves this by providing an app for your iOS or Android tablet or phone which lets you adjust all of the settings of the effects and amp models and manage your patches. It communicates with the Firehawk FX wirelessly over Bluetooth. There are still a few controls on the unit in case your phone or tablet isn't handy. But you never have to use them as long as you have the app running on your phone or tablet.

The only problem with this approach is that the app probably won't work with whatever computing device you're using 10 to 20 years from now and your existing tablet or phone will probably be broken or obsolete by then. That's the problem with software-dependent hardware. The manufacturer will likely only support it for a couple of years, so you can't expect it to work with computing devices you'll acquire further down the road. They're not going to make a new version of the app for every new device or operating system that comes out in the future.

I don't know was this released on Winter NAMM 2015, but Pro Tools First (Freeware!) is coming soon. It works both on MAC and PC. Perhaps this is a worth of download!

I'm interested in recording 'real' instruments via audio interface (BR-80 in my case).

Looking forward that!
