Here's one of mine – recorded in 4 tracks on the BR (12-string, Telecaster, Bass and Vocals), with extra ambience added in Audacity. I'm posting the lyrics because I rattle through them pretty fast, and they're a bit 'cryptic' (but personal)...

SHADOW PUPPETS

(Come On) I am Romulus and Remus I am staring at the sun
(Come On) I am drunk on limoncello sailing to Byzantium
(Come On) My jeans are ripped and worn out in a plaza full of dust
(Come On) My toe is black with poetry, my heart is red with lust

Hey-hey-hey... you take my breath away
Can I hold you
For just another day?

The shadow puppets are all tangled with laughter
Sunlit love on a crumbling wall
If I told you that I loved you would you listen?
If I missed you would your heart return my call?

(Come On) You are darker than flamenco you are sparkles on the sea
(Come On) You are heaven – mostly heaven – but what do you see in me?

Repeat Bridge & Chorus

wow, totally diggin this!

lyrics are cool as hell too. Hell, anyone that can work Byzantium into a rhyme is gifted in my book.

Harmony's were top notch as well.

Thanks! The Byzantium reference is from the poem 'Sailing to Byzantium' by WB Yeats. Me and my lady discovered we had a mutual love of his poetry.

I still can hear the 'Greeny-style' here, but otherwise this song is a different turn from your other songs....
You have been exploring various avenues lately!
I like it, very refreshing tune!

bloody hell tim, you dont half rattle them off, but you still have quality control, really like this one reminds me of early split enz, when tim finn was main singer/writer and before his brother neil came to the fore.

(by the way it's getting very busy on this site if you blink you can miss ten great songs. ive been away for 24 hours and im still trying to catch up with new stuff from last week.)

Love it. Nice and catchy, gets inside your head, the little sample is great, really adds an aural hook. And I really like the bass playing on this as well - a "guitarist's" bassline, ie nice and melodic. Could be higher in the mix for me, but I like an up front bass. More great stuff, keep em coming!

Cheers,

Nigel
