With all that's happening in my life right I'm going to be depending on my time in the car between gigs. I wrote the lyrics the other day and wrote the music today. Recorded LITLR, in the car on the 008.
Skin That's So Tough
written & performed by Hook
The choices we make
Are like waves that break
And take the foundation
Off with the wake
Leaving what's left
Just tattered remains
Bruised and beaten
Forever maimed

The damage is done
The wounds are deep
The cycle is sad
And stuck on repeat
Hope seems hard
And so out of reach
But hope is all we have
On this desolate beach

Often we break
The healing is slow
The past is something
We just can't let go
A glimmer is good
But is it enough
Can we ever pierce through
Skin that's so tough

Defiance is easy
And melts away
No is just a word that you say
Growth is something you can barely see
And it pokes and prods continuously
Taunting me

Chorus

The choices we make
Have impacts profound
And change with the wind
They are quiet and loud
Violent to peaceful
Tears to a smile
Hopefully the scars
Will fade in a while

Powerful lyrics, Hook, and well delivered.
The uke is a perfect car-sized instrument, eh?
Very effective and sweetly played.
Glad you're writing and recording on the road.
Hope the gigs are going well.  DD

Thanks for listening!

That uke really sounds great on this post. Agreement on the song...wonderful.

Any chance of you being at the Sunshine Blues Fest next weekend at Vinoy Park? Robben Ford in playing for free somewhere around you in February as well. Give me a p.m. if you can make either one.
