Wasn't sure I'd actually find the time, but I couldn't let a BeatlesFest go without entering something...

Always liked this song from Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band which in many ways seemed more like a John Lennon song than a Paul song, to my ears. The more I learned about the Beatles, I came to understand that some of the verses must have come  from John, based on his past behavior toward women. But he changed his scene (probably starting right around this time).  :) The song is a mixture of happy Paul and regretful John - an interesting combination.

Anyway, it was a something of a toughie for me to cover due to its many complex parts, but I enjoyed it and also learned a bit (hello guitar triads!). Paul's bass playing in particular is quite amazing on the original, and although I did my level best to approximate it I inevitably had to improvise more toward something I could actually play. :D

Hats off to you, Mr. McCartney.

Thanks for listening,
cuthbert

Excellent work, cuthbert! Lots of great stuff going on in this and it all sounds clear and well-mixed. Great playing and great vocals. I love it.

Only two more songs needed to complete Sgt. Pepper's.

Thanks for the nice feedback, folks. I do appreciate it.

I did a slight remix (mainly, removed one sloppy electric guitar). Let me know if this is getting better. ;)

Interesting laid-back arrangement and all the notes are in there too! The off-the-beat timing of the oooo backing vocals are spot on. (made me grin)  A very creative interpretation and a fun listen!

These days I merely dabble at being old and wise.
But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.

I saw this posted yesterday and been saving for many listens. Serious attention to detail and those vocals shine.
That bass does seem difficult but you do a great job and i love the tone. Love that rocksichord.

This is seriously amazing!
