Okay, lets just say its Christmas, and that i had one to may to drink, AND that money is NO object.

What would be the best Fender Strat to buy?

I think i'm really a blues guy that just like to shred from time to time...

Quite honestly, I would go to a store that has a wide variety of Strats and try them.  The Squier I had (and sold) played better and sounded just a well as the MIM Strat I own or the American Strat my buddy has. My feeling is that as long as the two and four positions sound okay, it's all good.  I'm over-simplifying, but there's some truth in there as well.

Good luck.

I have a 2010 American Standard Strat. And I also have a Squier Strat.  I have to say that the Fender Strat is much better.

Everyone will have different advice, but if were you, I'd be looking for one that was not too heavy, has a maple neck that fits your hand nicely, sounds good when played through your amp, and stays in tune if you do some dive bombing with the tremolo bar.

They are a very versatile guitar, except that it takes a while to get them tuned when you go from standard tuning to any alternative tuning.  The tremolo pulls everything out of tune when you make big tuning adjustments to one string.  You have to start at the outside strings and work your way in.

cheers,

Ian

This :)

Even two apparently identical strats (same make/model) will feel/sound different. Actually, that applies to any guitar...

I have one added proviso - don't touch a guitar that costs more than you're prepared to pay!

Happy New GAS year ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I came to the conclusion a couple of years ago -that one mans guitar is another mans shovel.
Try out guitar after guitar and take your time over choosing --
If you are strapped for cash -
These Squiers get rave reviews-I have never tried one tho'
