You Didn't Know

 This is a poem I modified for the simple melody I was working with one day. Another one where I hoped to leave the pain for the matter I'm speaking of with the lyrics.  

I'm sorry you didn't know
I buried my wings long ago.

Your unexpected, over blessed
baby girl.

You should have let me die.
I'm not getting this right.
Now pieces of a painful break...

I'm sorry when you hug me
I am numb from skin to soul.

All these years have never been.
And I've nothing to show.

Powerful stuff Allyson. It would be impressive enough if you were just a powerhouse vocalist but your lyrics put you in a whole different level. As always I am left very moved by your song.

Thank you Neil and Alex. It's strange to be writing what I have recently, but it's helping me a lot and I'm grateful it's something a listener can enjoy in their own way as well.

You paint a beautiful picture of a bleak and dreary landscape. I like your melody here. It still has that element of soaring as in most of your music that I've heard, but it's focused nicely here.  I love the line "numb from skin to soul."
