Monstrous good stuff :)

I'm just putting the finishing touches on my first one recorded with the THR10 - two lead vocals and a lead guitar part to do, might not manage it, we're going away for the night later...

But the main guitars are mixed already, Billy Gibbons pre-Eliminator here we come! Ah haw-haw-haw-hawww... :D

I saw that vid too Bruno. Crazy cool guitar. It take me a while to get used to that.

Well I got GAS, its all you faults!

A benefit of being 40 in a week or so is that I got to buy myself a pressie, so I got a THR10C, only arrived a few hours ago but already blown away with the quality of sounds available and the stereo sound is really good. I really liked the idea of being able to jam direct with an input from my ipad and be able to mix the sound as required. Sounds great with the headphones too so am looking forward to using as a recording tool.

Het Andy, could you send me that info on that mod you did for the noise, might check my unit. it has a buzz when the amp hits gain, especially if the guitar isnt facing the unit front on.

Thanks!

Hi Burtog, sorry it took so long to find it!!

Here's my post in a thread in the Yamaha forums
http://www.yamahaforums.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=7314&p=41272&hilit=THR10#p41272
I think it's page 3 by then - I found the whole thread very useful tracking down whether there was a problem and how to fix or get it fixed...

My post includes the following link to the fix/instructions I'd found on the web:
http://pickroar.com/1203/yamaha-thr10-squealing-noise-fix/

There are examples in the thread and fix topic of the "whine", so that you check out whether yours is making the same noises (I'm not sure whether it is? This was definitely a high-pitched whine, I wouldn't have described it as a buzz, but you never know...)

Good luck! :)

I just stumbled across the following and since I don't think anyone's mentioned it, I thought I'd point it out for you THR owners.

Yamaha has a free iPhone app called THR Session. It's basically an aid for learning songs by ear and has all of the usual features you'd expect:

  • Cancellation - Mute the guitar and/or Bass sound from the songs in your iOS device library.
  • Extraction - Isolate the guitar and/or bass parts to help you learn songs by ear.
  • Preset - 3 presets (Guitar High Mode / Guitar Low Mode / Bass Mode) to help you quickly find the instrument you want to cancel.
  • A-B Repeat - Repeatedly plays a selected segment of a song.
  • Key Transpose - Changes pitch of songs(± one whole step).
  • Slow Down - Changes tempo of songs with no effect on the pitch(50-100%).
