MonkeyFest (banner image missing)

Finally a fest I voted for...litlr, written & recorded at my desk this morning on the MBR.

Me & My Monkey
written & performed by Hook
Just me and my monkey
doing lots of things
traveling around the world
not worried what tomorrow brings just me and my monkey

Just me and my monkey
side-by-side connected for life together on this ride
the ups and downs
he's always right there

He's kind of dirty not eloquent
When we go to a dinner party
once in the room he gets acquainted with the elephant
Yeah that's my monkey

Just me and my monkey
taking it as it comes
don't care where it comes from
not concerned when it's done
as long as it's me and my monkey

Got nothing to hide
no reason to close my eyes
I've got a friend to help me
weather the outside
don't need no excuse
to climb a tree
It will always be
me and my monkey

Just me and my monkey
passing the time
tomorrow will be just fine
because it's just me and my monkey

An early fester, and a very cool song. Loved the elephant in the room connection - very clever. Excellent tune brother.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Brought a smile to my face, nice song.

Thanks for pointing that out, Bruno.  My 07:30-in-the-morning, not-properly-awake brain was listening to this at face value, just an easy song about a guy and his pet monkey.  Then I read Bruno's comment and I read the lyric again, that you were talking about a metaphorical monkey, being your primeval self, the primate brain underneath concious.

Monkey-as-metaphor.  I like that angle.

:) That's great !  1st thing heard in the morning,,,:]
Also, the part where he gets "acquainted with the elephant "is a crafty/effective chord change indeed..

Hook,,,just a question,,,with the simplicity of the uke [which is cool],,have you ever entertained the idea of
something like a smooth low, counter melody bass, along with some of the tunes ?  Covering the bottom sort of ?

I produce many of my tunes, here's a recent example https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?topic=22137.0  & here's one of my favorites https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?topic=21594. Yes the bass adds a great deal to the uke (as do effects, synths, drums, etc)& I tend to be a very melodic bass player. I use the uke so I can record comfortably in my car since that's when I have the most time. Over the past 3 years I've become quite fond of it though.
With this particular song I didn't really feel it need or warranted any further production.
Rock On!

We must be connected on some level my friend .....

I thought I was finished with my monkey songs ... as much as I picked another animal for my first song this year ( "Elephant in the room" ;D  ) and then comes this fest ...... I could not resist voting for it either ::)
