It's a tribute song to the late Luke Kelly of "The Dubliners"(now late themselves)
This is a quick near version of the song -well kinda near  ::) ::)
I did this in G could have really upped the key but-

Super cover Tommy. I love it when you do these covers, makes me want to sing along (if I knew the words :-) ). I really enjoyed the ride with this one.

Beautifully done, Tommy. You got a nice mandolin feel on one of the guitar parts. The whole thing is crisp, lush and lovely.

Brilliant work, Tommy.

I used to have a really good Dubliners CD back in the day and I have a real fondness for this music.  And you transported me to a little crowded Dublin bar where the Guiness is flowing and the air thick with cigarrette smoke (this is back in the day, remember).

Now, much as I enjoy the Pinky and Perky stuff, this is where your calling is I feel

[must admit I was reminded of a couple of Pogues songs too - Ballad of Old New York and the Old Triangle, although that may just have been the canal references]
