Old Bands You Were in!

I played bass in a band called Nasal Obstruction.
They were all Nirvana wannabes.

The only thing I contributed creatively was the name.

I didn't even start playing guitar until i was 22. After a divorce in '76, i poured myself into my guitar..traded my acoustic in on a '77 Tele (still have it) and started a blues band called "Blue Fox" in '78. We played all the local joints and roadhouses...most of them just once..lol. We did mostly originals that you couldn't dance to and in bars, they want stuff they know that is danceable. We had fun tho. Eventually, the drummer demanded more pop, danceable tunes and when we said no, he quit...and took his PA and with him. End of Blue Fox. I still have a cassette, which is pretty frightening to listen to  :o

From '79-'80, i did sound and lights for a top 40 band that worked 5 nights a week, EVERY week. Never had so much pocket money..free beer, and lots of other fun stuff... They were really popular. I left to live in Arizona for awhile.

From '81-'83, i did sound, lights, and all the bookings for a "new wave" original band called "The Urge". We played regionally. The band totally bombed at rural bars where all they wanted to hear then was Freebird..and the lead singer/writer would say things like "Freebird is a piece of shit...you're all assholes!" Surprised he didn't get shot. We almost needed chickenwire in front of the stage  ::) But at the colleges, they just loved us. Every song was totally dance oriented. We played some big shows, traveled in a cool little bus. Alot of fun. The drummer and bass player graduated from college and left the area. I left then as well. The bandleader struggled on for a bit but eventually gave up as new wave had run it's course and was being replaced by the "grunge" sound. Here is a vid that the bass player did for a college project. The sax player Jimmy was, and still is, my best friend. Not sure i can get this to post.
