Hi all, the very last of WW1 songs from me. This is so long I have to post a Soundclick link (oh well). I was looking for inspiration for lyrics and found this poem by John McCrae called Flanders Fields whose words almost moved me to tears in their poignancy and simplicity. When will mans inhumanity to man ever stop.  Willie

I've always had a fascination with WWI.  The way it tore away communities of ordinary men and sent them into a gothic hell which nobody should ever have to endure and from which many would never return.  And none would return unharmed.

It's heart breaking.

Your song is a wonderful contemplative piece that brings it to life and a fitting tribute to their memory.

Thanks for allowing me to hear that, I was moved.

Beautiful, evocative stuff Willie.  Powerful and moving.  The desolation of the bell at the end just adds almost unbearable poignancy.
