Nice version... You had me worried for a minute, I was thinking "hang on, he's not THAT Paul Chapman, is he?!?!" :D

=================
I have very bad memories of that Paul Chapman and the pissed-out-of-their-faces UFO that he was with. It was 1980, a gig at Exeter University. Except they got a chance to record Top Of The Pops in London that night as well. They didn't cancel or reschedule the gig. Instead, they kept us standing in the hall for 3 or 4 hours (after the support band) before they showed up. Unfortunately, they'd been partying for at least those 3 or 4 hours. They were utterly utterly dire - and they were not helped by a disgruntled and, frankly, after the first couple of minutes, stunned audience. And then Mr Chapman got fed up with us in the front row and called us "boring c*nts" for not being terribly enthusiastic. We explained to him that he was a "w*nker" and walked out.

Strangers In The Night is a SUPERB album. I've had it on rotate on my mp3 player these last few weeks. The remastered/expanded version does kind of expose the two songs left off the original album, though (Hot n Ready, and Cherry) - so maybe the original album did get some, er, "overdubs". And the expanded between-song chat does expose Phil Mogg as an inebbriated twat... but I've still been listening to it for weeks - wot a rock singer, wot arrangements, all round FAB... We were SO disappointed that night in Exeter...

Oh dear.  I'm glad I didn't see that gig.  It would have really depressed me.  Back in the day I worked with a relative of Pete Way's at the Ferguson factory in Enfield.  I got the impression that his antics were often a bit questionable.

I'm blown away ,this is rockin' I can't belive the quality of playing and recording. question?do you record that whole guitar track in one hit or is it all put together afterward somehow? either way I'm impressed ...and have a lot to learn...haha !

chapperz66

Glad you liked it!

I did it in 3 sections. The first "vocal line" part up to the section which was the guitar solo on the original UFO recording, the actual solo which I kept quite short, and then the vocal line out to the end.  I have to admit that there were quite a few takes for each of those sections before I was reasonably satisfied with it.

I suffer hugely from Red Light Syndrome.  I can play something quite well right up to the moment I press record.  The red light goes on and I screw it up time after time!
