One of my all-time favourite bands - UFO.  The wonderful Michael Schenker - although replaced by one Paul Chapman.

Apologies for turning this classic into heavy-rock lift music.

Now that what's I'm talking about. If somebody would only cover "Cherry," my life would be complete.

Fabulous.

That's some great playing, Paul.  Don't know the song but I enjoyed meeting it for the first time.

No - I'm not the Aussie rules footballer.  And, as you have probably guessed, I'm not the Paul Chapman who was in UFO either!

Oh Yes ! What a fine display of axemanship, absolutely brilliant.  And nice to hear a few pinched harmonics !

First gig that I ever went to was UFO with Paul Chapman (a fantastic guitarist) at the Hammy Odeon. Saw Schenker many times in MSG :-) I love this track on Strangers in the Night. Awesome cover, love what you've done with this.
Had me singing along.

Sadly I never got to see Schenker with UFO either but I also saw them during the Chapman era - including at least once at the Hammy Odeon.  Schenker was a tough act to follow but my namesake was very good too.  I have a couple of albums of him with Lonestar - another great band and seriously underated.  If you haven't already, check out "The Bells of Berlin" by Lonestar - it's a desert island disc for me.

"Strangers in the Night"  - what an album.  Got to be a contender for the best live album ever - up there with Made in Japan.  Of course there are some suggestions that there might have been some post-recording overdubs.  Whatever.  It would take a lot of corrections to make me sound that good.

Lights Out is another fave song of mine and I am grateful to this fest to give me an excuse to record it.  I actually made a brief attempt to sing it - but I have a truly terrible voice and it was an insult to the song.  So I resorted to the guitar.

Glad you like it.

I never got to see Schenker either, but I sweated a lot rehearsing "Into the arena" .... we played if live on every gig with LiFF. If I find a decent recording I'll upload it some day ...

A great cover Paul! I like your cleaned up slower version (although I still like the original also). The lead guitar replacing the lead vocal is a great idea and you've put some very skillful riffs and solos in between. I like it!
