Love the rumbling bass that keeps this driving along beneath the melodic guitar chimes. It's a really tight and powerful song. Love it when you take the vocal up way high.

When did you get a bass?

i've had the bass for a few years, been using it a lot more recently. my friend is a hairdresser and cuts my wife's hair, behind his salon he has a recording studio. i often give him cds of my "better" songs. there was a song he really liked but he said the bass guitar sounded a bit thin and asked me what kind of bass i had. i explained i didn't have a bass, that the bass line was recorded on a guitar and dropped an octave using cubase. he looked at me and said "hawd oan a minute" went to his studio and returned with a bass guitar and said here take this.

re this song the song, it was built around the bass riff which sort of informed everything else. thanks for the nice comments guys. i struggle with the bass, using it is like a heavy workout in the gym.

Keep struggling - a decent bass part does wonders... and the more you do it, the "easier" it seems to get

I struggle with the bass too. I'd like to say it's the bit I struggle over most - but that's not entirely true anymore... However, I do always worry until I've got a decent bass part down, or that I at least know what to play even if I can't play it yet (or can't find the right sound etc yet)...
