Seriously... this is pretty scary!

It's all done in Audacity. My voice is shot with flu this week, so I'm trying something different. This has all sorts... ocean, submarine sonar, heartbeats, stretched and warped ambience, and most importantly, some creepy English public information films from the 1970's. I've been playing with these pieces as interludes on my 'English Coasts' album. All the others are 30-40 seconds long, so I'm not sure I'll use this one. Anyway - here it is. Don't have nightmares  :)

That was scary.
That was alot of fun to make, wasn't it Tim?
I love playing with Audacity.

Thanks!

This one is hopefully now going with the latest Jemima's Kite song - 'Still Dark Water', which inspired the idea for this.

My 'English Coasts' album is one song away from completion plus a couple of bass parts.

HA! Welcome to my world  ;) Just love this. You did a great job on this and sadly I am old enough to remember some of those public info films (all the ones with Charlie, who was some sort of strange cat as I remember). Can't wait to hear this with the song.

Cheers,

How in the world do you think up this stuff?  You people inspire me tremendously, just can't seem to do anything about it. LOL  Great job!!

I'm glad I found myself in the 'wrong section'. This was fascinating. What is 'Audacity'? I've never heard of it. I would love to have some special sound effects like that.
If the human brain was simple enough for us to understand, we'd be so simple, we couldn't...

Audacity is a free download software. It's pretty cool (considering it's free) - you can add as many tracks as you like, and each track can be manipulated with time stretching, phasing, wah, fades etc (loads of options, in fact). It's good for adding ambience and sound effects etc onto stuff you've done on the BR. It's added an interesting new layer of creativity to my stuff, that's for sure.

I'm getting some soundclips from http://www.freesound.org/index.php and I'm ripping other stuff from YouTube to mp3 for playing around with in Audacity.

It's a lot of fun, but I'm not letting it distract me from the songwriting part  :)
