"Ride On" - orh and alfstone cover Jimmy MacCarthy

Jimmy MacCarthy is one of my favorite Irish songwriters, even if often the meaning of his lyrics remain rather obscure to me... 

Anyway, probably the most popular song by MacCarthy is "Ride On", in the version by the great Christy Moore

According to what I read online, it's about someone who leaves his/her lover, since he/she is unable to follow.
