anyone following scottish politics will know that polling day is getting close.

today i was walking up byres road and a relatively famous scottish politician was up on his soapbox.

it didn't matter whether he was advocating for us to vote yes or no, or how passionately he spoke.

it was just more of the same old same old, so he never changed any minds on either side.

for the don't knows, how they are going to make a decision i will never know.

anyway this song is from the perspective of a don't know.

and there are enough of them to swing the vote either way.

This is a beauty, there is a raw passion in your vocal that really shines through here.

The song has a nice rise and fall quality to it, particularly in the vocal delivery, which creates some great dynamics, and yes that chorus is a beauty.

Dear Jim,

I really empathise with you on this.  I am so over politics but I really love and respect democracy.

I just wish that the Westminster system (that we, in Australia share with the UK) could evolve.  Our culture/society is crying out for leaders who can present a strong intellectual argument for change and work and collaborate with others to achieve it.  Instead, we get idiots who have been brought up through the party political system to become our "voice" and they pride themselves on how well they can bully and belittle the opposition in Question Time.  Its all about cheap political point scoring and winning the 24 hour media cycle (which is also the worst thing that ever happened - closely followed by "reality television").

Lets have a new system where people have to work together.  This maybe where proportional representation may worth trying.  We would then get a parliament that actually represents the different perspectives in the community.  People would be motivated to stand for election because they may get elected! 

Anyway, your sentiment and your voice really touched me.  Sorry about the rant.  I feel a bit concerned about the state of the State and what we are setting up for our children to deal with.

Also, I just noticed that your jukebox now has over 1,000 items in it.  Mine has about 3% of that.  I have to admit that I have not listened to all of your stuff but I have heard enough to know that you quite often get it right.  Well done!
