earlier i did this https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?topic=21629.0 cos the batteries on my microbr died. if the batteries had lived, then you would not have had to suffer this version.

my original intention was to do a live version on the mbr but then my meds kicked in, that and ive been listening to very early split enz.

can i be the island
and you be the sea
wrap your arms around me
just be there for me
cos you know
it's the right thing to do
cos you know
it's the right thing to do
you be the garden
and i'll be the tree
you can sit in the shade
whilst i sweep up the leaves
cos i know
it's the right thing to do
cos i know
cos i know
we where meant for each other
so let's hook up
it's the right thing to do
you be the island
and i'll be the sea
i'll wrap my arms around you
it's the right thing to do

Well, this is certainly a lot more far removed from the live version than I had imagined, but I think it is one of them songs that would work very well whichever way you presented it.

If I was forced to chose between the two, I would probably plump for the live version, but that may only be purely because I listened to that one first and I love the more energetic and organic sound of it.

That said, this version is still pretty damn cool in my book, and it's probably already one of my favourite ORH songs of recent times.

Very laid back song with slower tempo, now. Loved the both versions! Brilliant outro!

I love this one. I really like both versions. The live version has that - well - live feel which is a good thing. This version has more depth and I like your vocal better in this version.

steelguitar

Love the different sounds of the intro, vocals full of subtle things, great choeurs and harmonies

Excellent slow tempo song!

I commented on this last night ,,,,,,where is it?.....Strange
I've done that a few times recently, must be hitting the send and not giving it enough time, either that or I've went in to one of the million songs jim has done by mistake ;D
I did say I preferred the live as it has the edge, more jumpier.
But I like both versions.
I would re-record this jim to the tempo of handle with care by the traveling wilburys and add to it as there's so much scope in it.
It's one of those songs you do that requires more attention as it is indeed a belter.

Might be up for that jim,I've got two things to finish just now and unfortunately got a flu bug nipping at my head.
But I'll give it a rehash and send you the result to add to.
I've got a few things I'm going to send you anyway to see if you can add to them ;D
