hi dudes and dudettes

I own a boss micro br but want to upgrade to 8 tracks

was looking for advice on which to purchase?

was looking at these two units both around the same price

i can see that the tascam has no effects - is there any benefit that the tascam has over a br80??

Are the br80 onboard mics any good?

Is the br80 alot better than micro br?

What are the pros and cons of br80 and tascam 008

So I put a lot of thought into this very question and I chose the Tascam DP 008 and haven't regretted it once. The BR 80 is in my opinion not a very good upgrade from the MBR, in fact you lose a few key features. The one that pops out at me now is that you can't adjust your levels during mixdown??????? It also still can't record 2 tracks simultaneously & that was important for me.
If effects aren't important to you then I say the 008 is a better machine. The reverb is excellent & the mastering effects are quite good. By using the export track feature you can essentially record as if you had virtual tracks indefinitely. The knobs are nice, mics are excellent & it's super easy to use. I get my effects from my line 6 pocket pod, zoom ps02 & now a micro korg unit I've yet to explore. It is bigger than the BR80 but that doesn't bother me much. Once again it's really a matter of effects both are very good machines but I'm very happy with the DP008!
Good Luck!
