additional comments on SONY ECM-DS70P?

That was the general idea behind the current mic placement. As it is, i think it picks up the drums brilliantly; or the drummer seemed impressed at any rate so... I'd consider hanging it directly above the drums but then it would be too close to the PA speakers and also be out of the speakers firing direction. Then i'd have the singer and keys/sampler complaining.

I'm happy with placement right now. I just need to finesse the sensitivity/input/compression to minimize clipping and maximize each frequency. Again, this is just for practice/songwriting purposes and not recording our album. I'd say it's about 75% close to a decent album recording though. Perhaps more mics, and lots more finessing.

Just ordered the mic from the Hong Kong place...hopefully it will be good to go! 

I wonder how the Micro BR works with soundboard recordings....

I have one from HK and works nice, far better then On board mic, and that's a hard to beat electret sound.
I use it mostly for percussion, shakers, wind chimes etc, the stereo image is a must now.
