These days I merely dabble at being old and wise.
But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.

I got one of these from ebay  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=110233231834&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=001

It has a broader frequency response than the Sony and works very well. It costs more than the cheaper Sony deals and I'm sure he used the Panasonic capsules so you could build it yourself ( as per the instructions from the link on this site ) but I didn't know that at the time. I've used it to mic my dobro, vocals, and amps and it sounds good for each one.
The song "Slidin Uphill" that I posted in the link on my "hello" post was done with that mic on the electric guitar amps about 6ft. away. Here's the link again fyi.  http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=661750&content=music

cheers,

After reading what everyone has said about this microphone, I just ordered one too.  At $10 it was just too hard to pass it up especially since Musicians Friend is selling them for $75!!!!  Now I get to do the waiting game.  Thanks for the info.

I just gave mine it's first field test Saturday at our band gig.  I sat the Micro BR on top of our PA head in the center of our set up.  I was amazed at the stereo separation I got.  I had the input volume a little too high; so some of the louder songs were a bit distorted.
I will try it again at our next gig.  It isn't studio quality, but it does give us a better idea of the blend that the crowd might be hearing.

I just got my mic today and have a couple of quick tests and boy did I get my money's worth!  It makes a big difference.  I want to do a few more tests with it and the guitar, but so far, well worth $10.

Hello,

Well, after reading all of the good reviews for this MIC, I decided to order one as well (from the Hong Kong dealer). $9.80 ...

I'll post when I receive it.  I record mostly acoustic and don't want to keep the BR on my knee for fear that it will fall and be damaged.  With this MIC, I should be able to position it for recording easily.

Thanks for all of the tips!
