Here's a song that sums up three stories appearing on a recent nightly news telecast.....real "hell on earth" feel to what's been going on around us.  Just added vocals, acoustic guitar, harmonica, BR800 drum track, cowbell, tambourine, and stir.....instant song.

Earth On Fire   c2014

Outside my window I could see it, a blood red sky,
Flames on the horizon, as cinders fly.
The news tells people to get packed up and drive,
If they want to remain alive,
Hills ablaze on Interstate 5,
Earth on fire.

Radical militants invading, desert towns,
Bombs and gas and bullets, raining down.
The news says thousands of innocent die,
Belonging to a neighboring tribe,
Destruction by religious divide,
Earth on fire.

Amidst a world gone crazy, lies dissolved by the truth,
And in this world gone crazy, no one plays by the rules

Two-hundred-thirty-nine were flying, China bound,
Vanished off the radar, no traces found.
The news says California's baking, Middle East is quaking,
Terrorists are taking, bits and pieces of you and me,
Earth on fire.

"Play because you love it. Don't worry about if it will ever make any money, just understand that playing is an end in itself, and you play music, it will make your life better. And, don't worry about being a star, don't worry about making money, worry about nothing, just sit down with your guitar and let it speak to you and that will make your life better. It will bring beauty into your life. It's a great thing to do."     ---- David Crosby

Very nicely recorded, acoustic guitar sounds very nice indeed. Interesting words as well.

I loved this right from them opening bars, the acoustic strumming sets a nice pace and rhythm to the song and that smooth vocal floats nicely over the top of it all

Just one minor bit of constructive criticism...the cowbell percussion that came in 1.29 was, in my opinion, a little overbearing and perhaps could be set back in the mix a little?

A very minor niggle that takes nothing away from an excellent song.

Cool tune, very CSN, I dig! I agree on the cow bell. Percussion needs to be treated delicately & intermittent percussion is often quite distracting to the song rather than complimenting. In this case the only reason for percussion is to emphasize that awesome acoustic groove you've got going. I would suggest a simple shaker beat  on 2 & for the verse(ish) section accented with your 16th notes at that build up end part of the progression. That would give groove & not make it distracting. You also should mix it nice & back in the mix, let it really gel with that guitar if you going to have it all. Just some suggestions because it is a really great song.

Thank you all for the constructive feedback.....ditched the cowbell and backed off the percussion as noted....hope u like this mix a bit better.

Perfect...you've now got that percussion sitting at a nice level in the mix now.

Nice one!

Great stuff... I love your laid back vocal style... the chilled feel of the track belies the sentiment on the lyrics, but they hit hard.

This is really good. I love your vocal and the dynamics in the song. Those small breaks in the last verse are great.
