I thought some Songcrafters might be interested in this . . .

Entries are invited for the 'Newsnight Referendum Revue'

Any performers welcome – singers, stand up, sketches, poetry, amateur or professional.
The only criteria being that it must be inspired by the Scottish Independence debate – it can be Yes, No or undecided, English, Welsh, Scottish, Irish, funny or serious, about politics, culture or national identity.... basically anything goes as long as it's entertaining and thought-provoking.

The deadline for entries 6th July and the best few will get the chance to perform their piece on Newsnight at the Edinburgh Fringe on 21st August in front of our studio audience.

All the details on the Newsnight webpage bbc.co.uk/newsnight

interesting thanks for the info...not that Ill be doing it havnt actually got past the stage of performing or even singing unless there is only me and the dogs in the room......posting songs is like .......need some analogy but cant think of one...hats off to everyone who gets up and does their stuff on stage with an audience...probably one of the hardest things I can think of doing

I can't do it (date wise), so I thought someone else might like to try - anyway it's not really me, I don't like political songs although I would have tried to do something.

It doesn't have to be funny - just relevant.

Hilary just reading tommys reply.......I tend to agree with him.....I know its not easy cancelling a gig...ps I have never done a gig so I don't really know, just been at a gig that was cancelled...but if you did get Newsnight spot...I think they might understand if you promise them a free gig when your Famous..or infamous, ps maybe the News Night Gig would be pre recorded..? be great to see one of my friends singing on Newsnight...:-)
