DroneFest (banner image missing)

A song from the seventeenth century. The melody is called "Packington's Pound" and dates from the sixteenth century. It was often used for songs about crime and punishment.

The Broadsides were cheaply printed song sheets and were the source of popular songs of their day. The songs covered every conceivable subject under the sun and also served in the role of today's tabloid newspapers providing news, opinion and sensation in equal measure.

Well done!

I've got a soft spot for these warning songs (love its title, and that of the melody, too). Great vocals and uke, and a nice drone, as well. I've been interested in getting a shruti box at some point, and this is just feeding that interest. :)

Thanks.

I have an M1 Shruti box. They are made in the UK, cover a full chromatic octave and are tuned to equal temperament, so are well suited to use with western instruments. You can get Indian ones cheaper which are not necessarily of inferior quality but are often tuned to different scales and temperaments which can cause tuning issues with Weestern instruments, so a little care is needed.
