a wee quickie on my £10 acoustic.

i saw the movie
i read the book
i wore the t shirt
i wore the t shirt
i tied my tie
in a windsor knot
the way my dad taught
the way my dad taught me
and i can do it with my eyes shut
i've done it oh so many times
learned in rote with no emotion
close my eyes go through the motions
i go to work
i do my job
i pull my weight
i pull my weight
i do whatever
needs to be done
i do my best
i do my best
and i can do it with my eyes shut
i've done it oh so many times
learned in rote with no emotion
close my eyes go through the motions

These quickies on a £10 guitar are always satisfying, and this one is no exception. Nice one, Jim!

Deep song, lovely vocals..........I love the reference to the Monarchy and how it feels like a noose around your neck............very subversive of you.....but you accept it because its tradition.........deep song.

Thats the mystery about songwriting, once you put it out there everybody gets a personal meaning from it that may be different than what was originally intended.  I shall always hear this one as a subversive protest song......you sly devil you......

I do like the way you have of creating a song out of a handful of chords and making it sound like so much more.

Wonderfully atmospheric song that really draws you in.
