On January 27 of this year, I lost my dear wife of 33 years to cancer.  I've been going through some of the worst pain I've ever experienced in the past 4 months.  :'(

I've been able to channel some of my grief into creativity though.  Shortly after I met her in September of 1979, I wrote this song for her on acoustic guitar.  I always wanted to redo it.  I wish I would've sooner.  She always loved the tune and would have loved hearing it in this style.  I made a slideshow video of some of the many pictures I have of her through the years.  I hope you enjoy it.

Oh crikey, I cried all the way through this. I'm so sorry for your loss and I'm sure Ellen would love this. It's such a beautiful song.

They say that when you make a gift for someone on earth that's passed, they receive a representation of that gift in heaven, be it flowers on a grave, a poem, card, song . . . I'd like to think she listens to this everyday.

Thanks you all so very much for your kind words and sympathy.  The process of creating this was very difficult and not exactly a "labor of love" but something I felt as if I had to do for her.  As I said in the intro, it was the first song I ever wrote for her, and when I was working on it all of the feelings, especially the magic feeling of falling in love, came flooding back to me.  It was so hard for me to sing because I couldn't help but break into tears with ever line.  I used to play and sing this for her "live" just on my guitar or even acapella, but with this I changed style from a kind of upbeat pop to a slow jazzy ballad.  The kind you can slow dance to.  I keep thinking how much I wish I would've done this years ago so we could dance to it.  There was hope for love in my heart when I wrote it but now so much sorrow.  This was the song I said "hello" to her with and now it's the song I'm saying "goodbye" with.   :'(
I loved her so much.
